Selena Quintanilla documentary 'Selena y Los Dinos: A Family's Legacy' is coming to Netflix

Selena Quintanilla is celebrated in the upcoming Netflix documentary Selena y Los Dinos: A Family’s Legacy, which features archival footage and interviews with her loved ones. From her early beginnings as a young girl realizing her gift for singing to her unprecedented success as a woman dominating Tejano music, the documentary, directed by filmmaker Isabel Castro, proudly shines a spotlight on Quintanilla’s legacy.

The film, which had its world premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, is in many respects a love letter from the Quintanilla family to the singer’s newer generations of fans.

“Our family has recognized that Selena is a huge representation of who we are as Mexican Americans. She’s relevant still, 30 years after her passing,” Quintanilla’s older sister, Suzette, told the American Film Institute during a screening of the documentary. “There is a whole new, two generations actually … that are embracing her, discovering her and looking for her.”
